Matt McIlvane, who has worked successfully with EC Red Bull Salzburg for the past four years, leading the team to two championship titles as head coach, is leaving Salzburg. In addition, Ty Loney announced his career end. Clemens Krainz extended his contract with the Moser Medical Graz99ers by two years, while Tim Geifes remains with EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV.

Matt McIlvane took up his first position as head coach of a professional team in Salzburg in 2019 - at 33 he was the youngest head coach in Salzburg club history - and became champion of the win2day ICE Hockey League twice in four years with the Red Bulls (2022 and 2023). In his very first season in 2019/20, the Red Bulls also won the regular season, before the season was interruption because of the Coronavirus. In the Champions Hockey League, the Red Bulls reached the playoff in the last two seasons with McIlvane and surprised, among other things, in the round of 16 of the current campaign with a 3:1 home win against the Swedish CHL title holders Rögle BK, even if then in Ängelholm the elimination came. Under his direction, many young players from the Red Bull Ice Hockey Academy also developed further and are now part of the team. Matt McIlvane will now return to America after this successful time and wants to set the next career step there.

Ty Loney ends career
Ty Loney has ended his professional career. After the consequences of his concussions, the 31-year-old decided to take this step, he will go back to the USA with his family. The winger played a total of 215 games (113G, 113A) for the Moser Medical Graz99ers, spusu Vienna Capitals and EC Red Bull Salzburg in the win2day ICE Hockey League. With the Red Bulls he also became champion for the second time these days.

Clemens Krainz stays in Graz
Clemens Krainz has extended his contract with the Moser Medical Graz99ers, the 21-year-old will also wear the dress of the Styrians in the next two years. In the past season, the forward, who has developed well under head coach Johan Pennerborn, was on the ice in 47 games for the Grazers, scoring two goals and four assists. "I'm from Graz, I feel comfortable in Graz and it's just the right step for me in my further development. I want to continue my way and make it directly into the playoffs with the team," Krainz explains.

VSV extends contract with youngster Tim Geifes
Tim Geifes (20) is a young, tall Austrian forward who joined EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV from the USA last year. He will receive a young professional contract for the upcoming season and will play for the Villach team as well as gain experience with the cooperation partner Kitzbühel in the Alps Hockey League.

First departures for the Pioneers
In the course of roster planning 2023/24, the BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg announce some changes: Patrick Stückler, Valentin Ploner, Thomas Schubert, Hampus Eriksson, Tyler Sandhu, Jack Jacome and Andreas Heier will not return to the team.
