Highlanders celebrate derby win in the AWHL | Aisulu takes the lead in the EWHL standings

The KSV Highlanders celebrated a 7:3 derby win at the EC Graz99ers Huskies on Wednesday. The team from Kapfenberg thus also extended its lead in the win2day Austrian Women's Hockey League table.

In the European Women's Hockey League, Aisulu Almaty awon 8:3 at Lakers Kärnten. The visitors thus moved to the top of the EWHL table.

The Highlanders extended their lead in the win2day Austrian Women's Hockey League table, but the 7:3 win in the derby against Graz was higher than the course of the game would suggest. The score was 3:3 after two periods, with the Huskies initially leading twice. In the final period, the visitors decided the game in their favour with four goals, with three KSV players - Claire Casey, Sara Confidenti and Vanessa Picka - recording a three-point night (1G & 2A respectively), as did Simona Grascher from Graz.

Aisulu came out strong in Klagenfurt, opening the scoring in the third minute with a goal by Annlise Hayes. Despite a quick equalizer from Isabelle Hardy, the Lakers struggled to keep up with Aisulu’s offensive power. By the end of the first period, the visitors led 4-1. The pressure from Aisulu continued throughout the game, extending their lead to 8-1 by the 41st minute. The Lakers showed resilience in the final period, with goals from Kelsey Soccio and Isabelle Hardy, the latter scoring on a powerplay.
