Highlanders celebrate narrow home win over Lady Hawks

In the Austrian Women’s Hockey League, the KSV Highlanders celebrated a narrow 3–2 home victory over the VSV Lady Hawks on Friday. With the win, the team from Styria defended their second place in the Placement Round.

Having already won the first meeting of the round on the road with a 5–3 scoreline, the Highlanders also came out on top at home. Gaja Pezdir opened the scoring for the hosts after nine minutes, before Tanja Koljonen equalized on the power play. Shortly after, Andrea Kantorová restored the lead for the Highlanders. Koljonen tied the game again in the second period, but the Styrian side had the final say: Barbora Vaňková scored the decisive goal in the 48th minute.

The Highlanders continue their campaign on Sunday in St. Pölten.
