League leaders KSV Highlanders also won their second game this weekend in the win2day Austrian Women's Hockey League. After their 6-2 win over Salzburg on Saturday, the Styrians defeated second-placed Sabres St. Pölten 3-0 on Sunday to inflict the Sabres' first defeat of the season. With six points, the Lower Austrians are nine points behind the leaders, but with three fewer matches played. In the first duel of the season on September 27, the Sabres still had the upper hand with a 5:1 victory. It was also the Highlanders' only defeat in the AWHL to date. On Sunday, the fans at the Kapfenberg Sports Center saw a duel at eye level. The Highlanders took the lead in the 26th minute, then it took until the 54th minute before they scored again. The final decision was finally made in the 57th minute. KSV goalkeeper Viktorie Horinkova shone with 38 saves. It was her first shutout in her third match.

Lakers win in Bolzano
