For the first time in league history a game will be started as a big "Frühschoppen-Event" in the morning. For the Moser Medical Graz99ers, this would be the perfect time to get on the winning track in the new season. Five games, five defeats is the humbling record of the Styrians at the start of the season. Three times the Graz99ers fought their way into overtime, but it still wasn't enough for a win. Especially because the puck rarely found its way into the goal - the Graz fans were only allowed to cheer eight times. In their last game, too, the main problem was the lack of efficiency. Although the 99ers managed to keep the score at zero for 60 minutes against Innsbruck, they were unable to score themselves. On the other hand, the BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg were in a scoring mood on Friday, winning 7:1 against Ljubljana, a record victory in their still young club history. Unlike the start of the season of Graz, that of Vorarlberg was crowned by some successes: With three wins after six games, the youngest participant of the win2day ICE Hockey League is in sixth place in the table.

Already at 14:00 the spusu Vienna Capitals host EC Red Bull Salzburg. The Viennese had to admit defeat in overtime on Friday after a dream start against Fehérvár - after 10 minutes they already led 3:0. More successful was the Friday game of EC Red Bull Salzburg against EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV, which was won 4:3. The reigning champions thus remain on the heels of table leader Pustertal. In both Vienna and Salzburg, the most successful player of the first rounds is an Austrian. While Lukas Kainz collected eight scorer points for the Caps (3 goals and 5 assists), Peter Schneider already holds twelve scorer points for the Caps (5 goals, 7 assists) and thus also leads the league standings. In the standings, a win on Sunday would see the Viennese jump back into the top-6.

In the duel Steinbach Black Wings Linz vs Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey two teams still without luck this season meet. While the Upper Austrians had to accept four defeats in a row after their opening win, Asiago is even without a win after five games in the current season. While the northern Italians are still struggling, especially in their finishing - they have only scored three goals so far - the Linzers are struggling with their defense, having conceded just under four goals per match so far. One goal in particular hurt the Upper Austrians on Friday against the KAC: eight seconds before the supposed victory, the Klagenfurter shot themselves into overtime and the almost certain three points ultimately became only one.

A little more than two weeks after the start of the season follows with the Carinthian derby already one of the big highlights for numerous ice hockey fans. 351 times the two teams have already met - 186 times the KAC were allowed to celebrate, 146 times the Eagles (19 times the game ended in a draw). In their home match, the Villach team not only wants to improve this derby record, but also to take revenge for last season's quarter-final exit. Just under 200 days ago, Marcel Witting's overtime goal sent the KAC into the semifinals and ended Villach's season. In the current season the Eagles got off to a slightly better start: With four wins after six games, VSV is currently in third place. But it was in derbies that the KAC proved its strength, especially in recent years. In the last three seasons, the KAC won 16 of 22 Carinthian encounters.
The EC KAC has signed Swedish goalkeeper Christian Engstrand for the period until October 31. The signing of the former goalkeeper of the Moser Medical Graz99ers should give the ailing Sebastian Dahm the opportunity to fully recover. >> All details can be found here

HC Pustertal is currently the measure of all things in the win2day ICE Hockey League. The Wolves remain the only unbeaten team also after the South Tyrolean derby on Friday and lead the table of the win2day ICE Hockey League. HK SZ Olimpija also caused one or the other surprise in the course of the season so far. On Friday, however, the young Slovenians had to accept a bitter damper and came under the wheels with 1:7 against Ljubljana. Nevertheless, Ljubljana is still in eighth place in the table and within absolute reach of the top teams.
