Lebler brace in win for the Black Wings
After three defeats in a row, the Steinbach Black Wings Linz got a win again. The bottom of the table won against the HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie with 3:2. Man of the match was Brian Lebler, who scored both the 2:2 equalizer and the winning goal. In the 16th minute of the game, however, the guests scored the opener. Defender Jan Lattner put the guests from Tyrol in the powerplay in front.

In the second period, the "Sharks" also promptly took advantage of their second overtime situation of the game. Tim McGauley scored his 15th goal of the season in the 36th minute after a great assist from Daniel Leavens. Shortly after, the Black Wings also scored for the first time this evening. A shot by Maxim Lamarche was perfectly deflected by Julian Pusnik. With a 2:1 for the HCI it went into the second break.

In the final period, Linz came out of the dressing room better. And it took only three minutes before Brian Lebler scored the equalizer. It was also the league's top goal scorer who scored the game-winner in overtime three minutes before the end of the game. For the Austrian international it was already the season goals 21 and 22 and the second brace in a row. The Black Wings remain at the bottom of the table. Innsbruck missed the jump into the top-10.

Ljubljana returns to winning ways

The home team also prevailed in the second game of the evening. League newcomer HK SZ Olimpija got the upper hand against the Dornbirn Bulldogs with 5:3. For the Slovenians it was the first win after four defeats in a row. Among others, new signing Rok Kapel scored twice in his second game for the Dragons.

However, it was the guests from Dornbirn, who were not in action on Friday, who got off to the better start. Stefan Häussle completed a great combination in the fourth minute and scored for the tenth time this season. Thus, the 29-year-old was able to set his previous goal record from the 2019/20 season. Just over five minutes later the answer of the home side came. New signing Rok Kapel scored for the first time in his second appearance for Ljubljana. The 22-year-old also scored the final goal to make it 5:3 just before the end of the game.

In the second period, it was again the Vorarlberg side who took the lead. This time Sam Antonitsch was the goal scorer (26t.). But again the "Dragons", through Blaz Tomazevic could equalize (32.). With a 2:2 it went into the final period, in which four goals were scored. Ljubljana pulled away to 4:2 in the meantime. Dornbirn was able to close the gap once more, but lost in the end. The Slovenians are in fourth place in the table. Dornbirn, which has lost all of its last four games, is still twelfth in the table.
