Hungary and Slovenia are back in the Top-Division

After Hungary and Slovenia were relegated from the Top-Division last year, both nations were immediately promoted again. At the Division 1 Group A World Championships in Bolzano, Hungary won the tournament with eleven points, followed by Slovenia with nine points. Host Italy missed out on promotion as third in the table, also with nine points.

The “Azzurri” were defeated 0:2 by Slovenia in the direct duel, meaning Italy missed out on promotion to the top division. Romania also finished the tournament in South Tyrol with nine points, but finished in fourth place. Slovenia secured promotion despite a 2:4 opening defeat against South Korea, who were later relegated. SLO finished the tournament in Bolzano in second place with nine points. In their final group game, they lost 1:2 to Hungary, meaning the Hungarians secured the tournament victory with eleven points. Hungary only lost 1:2 to Romania in the entire tournament.
