ICE: Black Wings win at Olimpija | CHL: Innsbruck advances to the Round of 16

In the win2day ICE Hockey League, the Steinbach Black Wings Linz won 2:0 at HK SZ Olimpija in the early game of the 30th round. For the Black Wings it was already the second win of the season in Ljubljana. In the Champions Hockey League, the HC TIWAG Innsbruck celebrated a 6:4 away win in Aalborg and is thus in the Round of 16. Brady Shaw was the player of the match with a hat trick. The HCB Südtirol Alperia, on the other hand, still has to wait for its first CHL win. Against the Lahti Pelicans from Finland, the South Tyrolean team managed to get into the overtime and get the first point, but they were defeated in the overtime (3:4/OT).

The Steinbach Black Wings Linz prevailed in the early match of the 30th round at the HK SZ Olimpija with 2:0. Both teams faced each other for the second time this season. At the season opener, the Upper Austrians also kept the upper hand with 3:2/OT. While Olimpija conceded their third defeat in a row, the Black Wings celebrated their fourth win in a row. In the standings, BWL improved to sixth place. On Tuesday, both teams played a very even game for long stretches, with few top-class chances on both sides. The first goal of the game, however, was scored already in the fifth minute thanks to Brian Lebler. It then took until 29 seconds before the end of the game before the Black Wings scored the decider. After Ziga Pavlin was sent to the penalty box, Sean Collins scored. There were only four penalties in the entire game, two for each team. For BWL goalie Thomas Höneckl it was the first shutout in the third game of the season. For both teams, the win2day ICE Hockey League continues already on Friday. The Black Wings meet champion Salzburg at home, Olimpija faces the EC VSV.



Innsbruck reaches Round of 16 in CHL debut season

The HC TIWAG Innsbruck is through to the Round of 16 in its Champions Hockey League debut. On Wednesday, the Sharks prevailed 6:4 at Danish champion Aalborg Pirates in a high-scoring game and celebrated the third win in the fifth group match. It was also the first away win for the Tyroleans in the current competition. With nine points, the debutant is currently eleventh in the table and can therefore no longer be pushed out of the Top-16. Man of the match was Brady Shaw, who scored a hat trick



First point for Bolzano
The HCB South Tyrol played a strong game against the Lahti Pelicans, was in the lead 1:0, 2:1 and 3:2 in the meantime, but lost in the end with 3:4/OT. For the South Tyroleans it was the fifth defeat in the fifth game, but at least the first point win. The Pelicans have eight points and are twelfth in the table. Connor Ford (11.), Luca Frigo (25./SH1) and Daniel Frank (33.) scored the goals for the Foxes.

Asiago replaces defender
Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey was once again active on the transfer market and announced the signing of Philip Beaulieu. The US-American replaces his compatriot Huntar Warner, who is thus no longer in the squad of the northern Italians. For the 28-year-old Beaulieu, Asiago is the first club in Europe.
