ICE representatives know CHL group opponents

On Wednesday, the group draw for the Champions Hockey League 2022/23 took place in Tampere (FIN). Thereby all four win2day ICE Hockey League representatives were drawn very attractive opponents. The following is an overview.

32 teams from 14 different nations will take part in the upcoming eighth season of the Champions Hockey League. Among them are for the first time four representatives of the win2day ICE Hockey League. The new season will start on September 1st. The sixth and final group matchday will take place on October 11th and 12th. The new Champions Hockey League champion will be determined on Saturday, February 18th, 2023.

Champion Salzburg in a group with Tampere
Champion EC Red Bull Salzburg has been drawn in Group E and will face Ilves Tampere from Finland, among others. The other opponents of the Red Bulls are Fribourg-Gotteron (SUI) and Stavanger Oilers (NOR).

The second red-white-red representative of the upcoming CHL season, EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV, was drawn in group F. The opponents of Villach are Färjestad Karlstad (SWE), Straubing Tigers (GER) and Comarch Cracovia (POL).

Ljubljana 100th club in CHL history
Both HK SZ Olimpija and Hydro Fehérvár AV19 will participate in the Champions Hockey League for the first time next season. Ljubljana will be the 100th club in history to participate in the European club competition. The group opponents of the Slovenians are EV Zug (SUI), Grizzlies Wolfsburg (GER) and TPS Turku (FIN).

For runner-up Fehérvár, the premiere opponents in the CHL are Rögle Ängelholm (SWE), ZSC Lions Zürich (SUI) and GKS Katowice (POL).
