Win2day ICE Hockey League | 18.12.2022 | Schedule:
Sun, 18.12.2022, 1.00 pm: EC-KAC – HC Pustertal Wölfe
Referees: NAGY, ZRNIC, Muzsik, Vaczi. | >> PPV-Livestream <<
For the third time this season EC-KAC and HC Pustertal Wölfe meet each other. The first game of the season was won by the "Wolves" after overtime, the most recent one by the "Rotjacken" clearly with 5-2. The EC-KAC has won six of its last eight home games, showed itself combative recently also with a very reduced line-up. In the course of the last ten rounds, the South Tyroleans scored only two victories, especially away from home the engine faltered noticeably: After shutout victories at HK Olimpija Ljubljana in October and the Pioneers Vorarlberg in November, the HCP could also win in Graz last weekend, but this total of nine points remained the only ones collected in this season away from home. No ICE team has so far recorded fewer points in road games than the club from Brunico. The "Rotjacken" have to deal again with personnel problems, as in addition to six injured players (Jesper Jensen Aabo, Lukas Haudum, Thomas Koch, Johannes Bischofberger, Samuel Witting, Daniel Obersteiner), five players are missing due to their assignments at U20 World Championships (Tobias Sablattnig, Maximilian Preiml, Christoph Tialler, Luka Gomboc, Finn van Ee). In addition to newcomer Mike Zalewski, two forces from the Future Team are expected to make their debuts in the EC-KAC's first team with Neal Unterluggauer (20) as well as homegrown center forward Tobias Piuk (18). Also returning to ICE action for the first time this season will be Marcel Witting.

Sun, 18.12.2022, 1.00 pm: HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie – HK SZ Olimpija
Referees: BERNEKER, NIKOLIC M., Martin, Seewald. | >> PPV-Livestream <<
HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie defended their lead in the standings with a 5-4 road win in Graz on Friday. HK SZ Olimpija was free of play on the last two gamedays, competes for the first time since December 9th and should be more rested, especially since the "Haie" had to make do with only three lines in Styria with five players missing. The Dragons will have to overcome their road weaknesses in Innsbruck if they are to celebrate their first win in their seventh meeting with the Tyroleans: they have only picked up twelve points on the road so far, and have recently suffered five road defeats in a row, with the Slovenians celebrating their last road win after regular playing time on October 7. Innsbruck, on the other hand, has been convincing at home, scoring in eleven of its 13 home games. The "Sharks" have won both of their games this season in commanding fashion, 4-2 and 5-2. They still have the best power play in the league with 31%, while the "Dragons" have the weakest penalty killing with 74.6%.

Sun, 18.12.2022, 1.00 pm: BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg – spusu Vienna Capitals
Referees: HOLZER, VIRTA, Eisl, Sparer. | >> PPV-Livestream <<
The spusu Vienna Capitals want to get back on the winning track at last-place BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg. The two-time champions are without a win since four games, on the road the Caps are winless since five games. Vorarlberg have also failed to win their last two gmes, losing twice to Asiago in midweek. With only ten points from 13 home games, the league newcomer is still the weakest home team. The "Pioneers" lack offensive punch, scoring just 46 goals in 25 games. With only 8.6% of power plays scored, the Vorarlberg team is also struggling with its special teams. The first two games of the season were won by Vienna, which may already be able to rely on its latest newcomer Ben Finkelstein - Chad Krys, on the other hand, is out for a few weeks with a lower-body injury. The Vorarlberg team could also field a new player in Norwegian forward Andreas Heier.

Sun, 18.12.2022, 4.00 pm: HCB Südtirol Alperia – Hydro Fehèrvàr AV19
Referees: NIKOLIC K., PIRAGIC, Pardatscher, Snoj. | >> PPV-Livestream <<
The duel between HCB Südtirol Alperia and Hydro Fehérvár AV19 on Sunday is the lone encounter between two teams from the top-6. Both teams are among the strongest defensively in the league: Bolzano gets an average of 2.32 goals against (#3), Fehérvár an average of 2.19 (#2). The strength presented both teams also in the first duel of the season three weeks ago, as the South Tyroleans prevailed in Székesfehérvár with 1-0. The "Foxes" are still the best home team in the league - but the Hungarians travel with three road wins in a row, have always scored away from home in the last six games at all. There has been little to cheer for the runners-up at the Sparkasse Arena so far, with Bolzano winning eight of their last ten home games against the Hungarians.

This encounter is also the third stop of the "Trophy on Tour 2022/23". With the start of admission, the "Karl Nedwed Trophy", already won twice by HCB Südtirol Alperia, can be examined and photographed. In addition, HCB has announced a small competition for the youth teams attending the game: the most numerous representation that takes a photo with the trophy will win a training session in their own stadium with the participation of some players of the Foxes.

Sun, 18.12.2022, 4.30 pm: EC Red Bull Salzburg – Moser Medical Graz99ers
Referees: FICHTNER, SMETANA, Gatol-Schafranek, Riecken. | >> PPV-Livestream <<
The gameday will be concluded on Sunday with the duel between EC Red Bull Salzburg and the Moser Medical Graz99ers. The reigning champions, they were match-free on Friday, are back in action after a week's break and have stabilized recently, as they have always scored in the last six games, winning four of them. The "Red Bulls"' showpiece is currently their defense, with only 51 goals conceded so far and a penalty killing of 89.4%, they are top of the league in both categories, and their goalkeeper tandem playing at the same high level. Both David Kickert and Atte Tolvanen got twelve appearances so far and showed a save percentage of over 91%. Graz arrives after three home defeats in a row, conceding an average of four goals per game. With another defeat, the Styrians are in danger dropping out of the top 10. The 99ers won the last meeting with a goal from Andrew Yogan. In the last six games in Salzburg, the "Red Bulls" have always scored (four wins). The champions will be without convalescents Ty Loney, Troy Bourke and Paul Huber, as well as Aljaž Predan, who is ill.
