win2day ICE Hockey League, 24.01.2023 | Schedule:

19:15 HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Steinbach Black Wings Linz
Referees: PIRAGIC, SMETANA, Riecken, Snoj | Live in PPV-Stream

For the first time this season HC TIWAG Innsbruck had to go empty handed in three consecutive games. The Sharks paid for this short period of weakness also in the standings - they slipped from first to third place. Although only two places behind - but with a respectable distance of 15 points - the Steinbach Black Wings Linz are lurking. The goal of the Upper Austrians is to avoid being drawn into the fight for the top six, but the lead over seventh-placed Klagenfurt is only five points, even though the Black Wings have played one game less so far. Innsbruck, on the other hand, doesn't want to lose touch with the top duo and end their longest negative streak this season at home against Linz. The Sharks are currently lacking a bit of luck, with only one goal making the difference in all three defeats against Salzburg, Vienna and Klagenfurt. Steinbach Black Wings Linz won two of their last three games and even scored three times in a row. This has secured fifth place in the table for the time being, but the Upper Austrians have no opportunity to rest. However, the Black Wings seem to be comfortable with the Sharks - Linz has won two of the three meetings so far. Philipp Lukas' team also seems to have the otherwise dangerous Innsbruck offense under control. Against the Upper Austrians, the Sharks only scored an average of two goals per game, well below their goal average of 3.875.

19:15 HK SZ Olimpija - EC Red Bull Salzburg
Referees: OFNER, RENCZ, Muzsik, Vaczi | Live on PPV-Stream

HK SZ Olimpija needs a strong closing offensive in the Regular Season, so that their season does not end prematurely. The Slovenians failed to win any of their last five league games, or only one of their last 14 games. Nevertheless, the gap to the top-10 and thus to the Pre-Playoffs is only nine points and that with three less games played. EC Red Bull Salzburg, on the other hand, already looks as good as certain to reach the quarter-finals. After the latest three wins, the Salzburgers were able to leave HC TIWAG Innsbruck behind. Now the Red Bulls want to launch another attack on league leader Bolzano, who is currently still seven points ahead of them. The Salzburgers can not yet fix the playoff ticket on Tuesday, but increase the pressure on the match-free leaders. The reigning champions recently beat HC Pustertal. The game-winning goal, however, only came in the final period on the power play. In the direct duels with the Slovenians this season, RBS had to admit defeat once in the penalty shootout, the other two encounters were won by the seven-time champions in superior style.

19:15 spusu Vienna Capitals - EC iDM Heat Pumps VSV
Referees: HRONSKY, SOOS, Kis-Kiraly, Konc | Live in PPV-Stream

The spusu Vienna Capitals welcome EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV in an important home game. The lead on the pre-playoff places shrunk to one point after the overtime loss against Asiago. From the past four games only one could be won. From two games against Asiago and one against Pustertal, only two points were taken in total. Against EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV, however, the important point hunt will not be easier. The Eagles travel to Vienna with five wins under their belt. This run has kept the Villach side out of the tussle for the top six. Most recently, VSV celebrated a 5:3 victory over Ljubljana on Sunday, with defender Nicolas Mattinen putting his stamp on the game with a hat trick. Villach won two of the three previous meetings with Vienna. In the last duel, the Eagles turned a 0:2 deficit into a 5:2 victory.

19:45 Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey - Hydro Fehérvár AV19
Referees: REZEK, ZRNIC, Miklic, Rigoni | Live on PPV Stream

In the only Wednesday match, Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey will face Hydro Fehérvár AV19 with a huge amount at stake for both teams. The yellow-reds made it back into the top-10 on Sunday and now want to confirm it and qualify for the pre-playoffs already in their debut season. Fehérvár, on the other hand, is in the middle of the fight for the top-6 and thus for one of the six direct quarterfinal tickets. Currently, the gap to the sixth-placed Viennese is four points. On Sunday, the Hungarians suffered a 1:3 defeat in Bolzano. Asiago, on the other hand, celebrated a 6:5 OT victory against the Caps, their third win in a row. In the direct duels so far, the Hungarians prevailed twice in commanding fashion, while the league newcomer managed an overtime win once.
