HC TIWAG Innsbruck cruised to a commanding 9-2 opening win against Alps Hockey League side HC Asiago at the Hansjörg Brunner Memorial in Merano. The Tyroleans dominated from the start, leading 4-1 after the first period and never letting go of control even after a brief push by the Italians in the middle frame. Goals from Craighead, Kudla, Mader, and captain Lattner underlined the difference in class. Goalie Jakob Brandner made his second preseason appearance. On Sunday, Innsbruck will face EV Landshut.

The Moser Medical Graz99ers won their dress rehearsal ahead of the ICE opener. In a league-internal test, the Styrians beat Olimpija Ljubljana 4-1. After a goalless first period, Hora put the hosts in front and Huber doubled the lead on the power play. Ljubljana pulled one back in the final period through Mahkovec, but a quick double strike from Ganahl (PP) and Feldner (SH) sealed the win.

A strong test outing was also recorded by EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV. The Villach side won their sixth preseason game 3-1 against Starbulls Rosenheim, showing convincing teamwork. The visitors had led after the first period, but Nikita Scherbak equalized. In the third period, Philipp Lindner and Nick Hutchinson secured the home victory.

As they did last year, the Vienna Capitals defeated EK Zeller Eisbären in their final preseason game. A brace from Benjamin Lanzinger (7’, 27’) gave the Caps a 2-0 lead. Shortly after the AHL champions cut the deficit, Vey restored the two-goal cushion. Although the Pinzgau side came within 2-3 in the middle frame, the score held until the final horn.
