HC TIWAG Innsbruck is the surprise team of the current Champions Hockey League campaign. After a remarkable Regular Season, which they finished in 14th place, the team from Innsbruck also surprised in the first leg against the Finnish top team Lukko Rauma. A week ago, the Sharks fought back from 2-0 down in front of their home crowd to end the encounter 2-2. Both goals were scored by the MVP of the win2day ICE Hockey Leauge in the previous season, Brady Shaw. With a total of six goals in this CHL season, Shaw is now the sole top scorer in Europe's top competition. In addition, Innsbruck has Evan Buitenhuis, the goalie who has recorded the most saves in the current CHL campaign (189). However, one of the absolute top teams waits with Lukko Rauma. The 2020-21 Finnish champions have only lost one of their six games this CHL season.

Based on the result of the first leg (2:2), the winner of the second leg will advance to the quarter-finals in any case. In the event of a draw after 60 minutes, the winner will be determined in a 10-minute sudden-death overtime or shootout. The winner of this duel will meet the winner of the round of 16 between Ilves Tampere (FIN) and Dynamo Parducibe (CZE) in the quarter-finals.
