Parker Foo is joining Innsbruck from the Shanghai Dragons of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). The Canadian from Edmonton was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the fifth round in 2017 and played three seasons at Union College in the NCAA before moving to the KHL in 2020. Playing for Kunlun Red Star and the Shanghai Dragons, the left-winger scored 43 goals and provided 51 assists in 251 matches. At the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, Foo played for China and scored the first goal ever by a Chinese men’s national team at the Olympic Games, against Germany.

“In Parker, we are gaining a player who has competed at a very high international level for many years,” says General Manager Günther Hanschitz.

Kolppanen and Mitterdorfer take over
Following the departure of Ryan Kinasewich and Florian Pedevilla, the Innsbruck side is, for the time being, relying on two solutions from within the club. Ville Kolppanen has been with the club since October 2024 and has so far served as head coach of the U20s and goalkeeping coach. Daniel Mitterdorfer, most recently the Sharks’ Business & Development Manager, played over 400 matches as a defender in the top Austrian league and made more than 60 international appearances. “At the same time, we are working on a long-term solution for the head coach position,” said Hanschitz.

Innsbruck will play their first match after the international break on Friday, 13 November, away at EC-KAC.
