The 27-year-old was born in Nottingham, is a dual citizen (GBR/CAN) and has already played for the British national team. After several years in North America and first stints in the American Hockey League (AHL), Halbert moved back to England two years ago, where he played two successful seasons with the Coventry Blaze, most recently captaining his team. Last season, Halbert was among the highest scoring defender, averaging over a point per game (11G|32A).

"I'm extremely excited about this new role. I hope I can help the team build on last season's success and get even better. I have heard only positive things about the club and the city, especially about the great fans and how beautiful Innsbruck is. I can't wait to get to know everything, and I'm grateful for the chance to play for the Sharks," Nate Halbert.

HC TIWAG Innsbruck Head Coach Mitch O'Keefe knows, "Halbert is a great addition for us. He has international experience and is motivated to develop in Innsbruck. He brings everything a defender needs and plays hard. He was captain at Coventry, so I expect him to take a leader role with us as well."
