Innsbruck strengthens offense with Nikita Scherbak

Nikita Scherbak is moving within the win2day ICE Hockey League from EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV to HC TIWAG Innsbruck. Over the past two seasons, the winger recorded 85 points in 103 games for the Carinthian side. The 30-year-old, who has also played in the NHL and KHL during his career, has signed a two-year contract with the Tyrolean club.

With Nikita Scherbak, the Sharks add a proven offensive player to their roster. The 30-year-old Russian spent the past two seasons with EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV, registering an impressive 85 points in 103 appearances.

Scherbak was selected in the first round of the 2014 NHL Draft by the Montréal Canadiens, where he also made his debut in the world’s top league. In total, he played 37 NHL games for the Canadiens and the Los Angeles Kings. In addition, the left-shot forward brings extensive international experience: alongside nearly 200 appearances in the American Hockey League, Scherbak has also played in France, Slovakia, and the KHL.
