Innsbruck suffers close defeat in preseason opener

On Wednesday HC TWK Innsbruck opened their preseason against KHL side HC Vityaz. In a fast-paced game the Tirolese suffered a close 3:4 defeat.

2.000 fans were coming to watch Innsbruck's preseason opener against HC Vityaz who had the better of the play in the opening minutes. With each passing minute the host became better and halfway through the first new arrival Michael Boivin made the breakthrough. Innsbruck took the lead into the first intermission but the Russians turned the game around with scoring a brace early in the middle frame. Before the halfway point of the game the visitors added a third, soon later Innsbruck made a planned goalie change with Rene Swette replacing Matt Climie. After Innsbruck wasted some chances, Vityaz extended their lead early in the third. With goals by Nick Ross (49./pp) and Levko Koper (59.) the hosts came close again but suffered a 3:4 defeat in the end.
