Graz got off to a better start but was not able to score early. Halfway through the first the hosts became better Guimond, Clark and Spurgeon missed some chances. After a goalless opening period Philipp Lindner broke the spell after 25 minutes when a blue liner found the back of the net between the legs of Graz netminder Hannu Toivonen. With Evan Brophey scoring the equalizer, the game picked up pace. Mitch Wahl restored Innsbruck's lead and Hunter Bishop failed to double the score. The guests were more efficient when Brock Higgs first tied it and then the Graz forward even turned the game around. Innsbruck came out hard in the third but wasted the best chances. The home fans had to wait until the 55th minute when Bishop lit the lamp on power play. With another man advantage Andrew Clark put Innsbruck 4:3 up. It was also the final result. Innsbruck has won the last three home games against the 99ers with a one-goal difference each.
