On Friday, HC TIWAG Innsbruck won the first-ever win2day ICE Hockey League game played in Milan. While league leaders HCB Südtirol Alperia suffered an overtime loss in Villach, the Steinbach Black Wings Linz extended their winning streak with a fourth consecutive victory and climbed to second place in the standings. The Pioneers Vorarlberg picked up their first point.
EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV – HCB Südtirol Alperia 4–3 OT (1–2, 1–1, 1–0)
Villach handed the league leaders from Bolzano only their second defeat of the season. The South Tyroleans quickly took a 2–0 lead through Daniel Gellon and Cristiano Digiacinto, but the Carinthians fought their way back. Ryan Sproul scored twice before Elias Wallenta netted the winner in overtime.
Hydro Fehérvár AV19 – EC Red Bull Salzburg 1–6 (1–0, 0–4, 0–2)
Salzburg celebrated their third consecutive victory in Székesfehérvár. After Csongor Ambrus gave the home side an early lead, the Bulls staged an impressive comeback: Peter Schneider scored a hat-trick, Jayden Lee netted twice and Olivier Galipeau sealed the final score.
Steinbach Black Wings Linz – HC Falkensteiner Pustertal 5–2 (2–1, 2–1, 1–0)
Linz secured their fourth consecutive victory, thereby avenging their defeat in the first meeting of the season against Pustertal. Stefan Gaffal and Graham Knott each scored twice, whilst Brian Lebler also found the net. The Upper Austrians have thus moved up to second place.
FTC-Telekom – Vienna Capitals 3–2 (0–1, 1–0, 2–1)
FTC-Telekom came from an early deficit in Budapest to secure their third win of the season. Jakob Lilja put the Capitals ahead, but Carter Savoie, Aku Kestila and Gergely Tóth turned the game around. Linden Vey pulled one back shortly before the end, but Vienna could not manage more than that. All five league encounters between the two teams so far have ended with a margin of just one goal.
Moser Medical Graz99ers – Olimpija Ljubljana 3–4 OT (0–1, 1–0, 2–2)
Olimpija celebrated their third consecutive victory in Graz. After the Slovenians had let a 3–1 lead slip away, Nicolai Meyer decided the match in overtime with his second goal of the evening. Joshua Lawrence had also scored twice earlier in the game.
Pioneers Vorarlberg – EC-KAC 4–5 after penalties (1–1, 3–2, 0–1)
After three consecutive defeats, EC-KAC secured a shootout victory away at Pioneers Vorarlberg. In an eventful match featuring several lead changes, Thomas Hundertpfund converted the decisive attempt. For Vorarlberg, it was at least their first point of the current season.
Milano Hockey Club – HC TIWAG Innsbruck 1:4 (1:1, 0:1, 0:2)
Innsbruck won the first-ever league match in Milan, avenging their defeat at the start of the season. Diego Kostner scored the home side’s first goal at the Fiera Ice Arena, but the Sharks turned the match around. Steven Owre netted the game-winner in the second period.
