Innsbruck's Lamoureux decides derby with four goals

Mario Lamoureux scored four goals to decide the derby to Innsbruck's favour. While Villach earned a home win thanks to four power play goals, Graz and Linz came back from a 2-goal deficit. In addition, Dornbirn and Fehervar extended their winning streaks.

Five minutes into the game Mario Lamoureux opened the scoring with his first of the night. Halfway through the first Michael Schiechl tied it and Bobby Raymond even turned the score around before the first intermission. After Lamoureux' equalizer, Thomas Raffl restored Salzburg's lead once again - for the last time. A Wachter goal and a Lamoureux shorthander got Innsbruck on winning ways. With five minutes to go the Canadian scored his fourth to end Innsbruck's losing streak.

After Graz missed some great chances in the first, Robin Gartner made the break through for Klagenfurt with six seconds to go. At the halfway point of the game Niki Kraus doubled the lead but the hosts bounced back. Travis Oleksuk got the 99ers on the scoreboard and Garbowsky even tied it in the final seconds of the second. In the third Graz decided the game to their favour within only three minutes thanks to goals from Kainz and Sundin. Another Garbowsky goal rounded off the scoring and Graz returned to second place.

Both teams generated some good chances with Vienna having the better of the play. After 16 minutes Chris DeSousa broke the spell for a Caps lead. Early in the second Niki Hartl added a second but the hosts missed some chances for an even higher lead. Michael Davies pulled one back on power play and Dragan Umicevic' third-period equalizer forced overtime. In the extra session Peter Schneider only hit the post with Rick Schofield deciding it at the other end. The Black Wings defended sixth place and ended Vienna's six-game winning streak.

For the second time this season there was a game with no goals in regulation. And once again Bolzano took part. The champions wasted lots of chances in their home game against Dornbirn with goalie Rasmus Rinne making some great saves and keeping a clean sheet for 64 minutes. Bolzano netminder Leland Irving also did a great job but he was beaten in the extra session from Brock Trotter who extended Dornbirn's winning streak to four. For Bolzano, it was the first defeat after three consecutive wins, though.

Fehervar got their sixth successive win with the Hungarians coing closer to the top 6 again. Tero Koskiranta's shorthander was the lone first-period goal. In the second the visitors scored three more unanswered goals for a comfortable lead. Znojmo fought back, though, scoring three goals within four minutes for a one-goal game. The Hungarians were not shocked and added three more soon later. Despite having the last two of the night, Znojmo was not able to end Fehervar's hot streak.

Vilim Rosandic in the Zagreb net played a great game in Villach. After some good saves he was beaten for the first time when MacGregor Sharp struck on power play. At the halfway point in the game Tom Zanoski even tied the game but Villach extended their lead to 3:1 with two PP2 goals. Late in the second Sharp added his second of the night for the preliminary decision. After Zanoski scored Zagreb's second, it was former Medvescak player Yann Sauve who rounded off the scoring.
