Italy advances to top division with Cortina defenceman and former league players

With Gregory Di Tomaso from Hafro Cortina Hockey, a player from the Alps Hockey League was in the Italian squad that made it into the top group at the Division IA World Championship in Sfântu Gheorghe/Romania. A total of twelve Italian players have played in the AHL in the course of their careers.

Gregory Di Tomaso played 30 games for Hafro Cortina Hockey in the past AHL season, recording nine goals and 20 assists. The defenceman was also in the Italian squad for the Division IA in Sfântu Gheorghe/Romania. After three wins from five games and a point against Ukraine - in which Di Tomaso even scored a goal - head coach Jukka Jalonen's team made it into the top division. The Cortina player also recorded two assists. A total of twelve Italian players have played in the Alps Hockey League over the course of their careers.
