The team from Italy, which was defeated in the opener, got off to a good start against the Slovenians, which were not playing on Thursday, and took a clear lead until the 17th minute with two powerplay goals from Daniel Mantenuto and Phil Pietroniro. Just nine seconds left in the first, BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg foward Luka Maver cut it short for Slovenia.
