Jakob Weber (#22) of Red Bull Hockey Juniors, time 55:59, made contact with an opponent deemed as Boarding, IIHF Rule 41. Based on the video evidence, it is determined the incident to be worthy of supplementary discipline - Category 1 – ‘Careless’ – insufficient attention or thought to avoid harm or error.

Liable to happen as a consequence of, by intending to affect an opponent through a reactionary or accidental motion or the incident is deemed careless causing negligence.

Thursday night, January 26th, in Salzburg, Salzburg D'Man #22 Jakob Weber was involved in an incident, deemed as boarding on Unterland forward #46 Filip Kokoska, resulting in no apparent injury.

As the video shows, Filip Kokoska, in possession of the puck, is entering his attacking zone with speed, while Jakob Weber plays a 1 on 1 in to keep him to the permitter. At about the height of the hash-marks Weber poke-checks the puck causing Kokoska to momentarily loose control of the puck. While attempting to gain puck control back Kokoska minimizes speed and at the same time Weber, directly located behind Kokoska delivers, a push to Kokoska's back. This push is located right above the pant-line of Kokoska, who is unable to protect himself of the impact at the boards.

This is boarding.

It is important to note, that Weber delivers this push not through a legal means, as this push was not delivered through the use of his hip or shoulder and as a result, used an illegal means by using his arm to deliver a dangerous push. The delivery point of contact is a dangerous distance from the boards and right above the pant-line which leaves Kokoska with no way to protect himself and propels him head first into the boards.

If Weber wants to deliver a hit on this play, he must skate to position himself in a way that allows him to make a hit through the use of his hip or shoulder.

Effective immediately, the Alps Hockey League Department of Player Safety has suspended Jakob Weber for 1 game.

To summarize:
