After Klagenfurt’s offensive outburst in Game 3, Hydro Fehérvár AV19 showed a much more solid defensive performance in Game 4. The opening period was fairly even, with a slight edge in chances for EC-KAC, and it looked set to remain scoreless. However, with just four seconds left in the frame, a rather unusual play broke the deadlock: KAC defenseman Josh Teves fired a shot from his own blue line that found its way in untouched to make it 1–0.

Fehérvár improved in the second period, helped by several power plays. The equalizer also came on the man advantage: Sebastian Dahm made the initial save on a point shot by Ol Einar Andersen, but Rasmus Kulmala converted the rebound to tie the game at 1–1. A subsequent coach’s challenge by Kirk Furey was unsuccessful.

The hosts from Székesfehérvár then took the lead for the first time in the third period. Max Gerlach disrupted KAC’s breakout and set up Akos Mihaly, who made it 2–1. It was Mihaly’s third goal of the season, but already his second in the quarterfinal series against Klagenfurt. Just over five minutes before the end, Anze Kuralt received a game misconduct for charging. KAC had a full five-minute power play to push for the equalizer – and they capitalized, as Jan Mursak tied the game with just under 90 seconds remaining in regulation.

Overtime was required to decide the game, and it took 7:30 before the MET Arena erupted. Roland Kiss found Janos Hari in the slot, and he lifted the puck past Sebastian Dahm to seal the 3–2 win and even the series at 2–2. Game #5 follows on Monday – LIVE on ORF Sport+.
