On Thursday, six games are scheduled in the Alps Hockey League. Among others, the third in the standings, HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice is in action. The Slovenians have a chance to win their ninth consecutive game, a mark that no team has reached this season. The Slovenians' opponent is EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel. The HC Pustertal Wölfe can take over the top of the table with a win at the Red Bull Hockey Juniors, as leader HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana is not in action. Two new additions were announced by the SHC Fassa Falcons and the HC Gherdeina valgardena.it. The "Falcons" signed the 20-year-old Czech Michal Kvasnica. At Val Gardena the Finn Joonas Niemelä was signed. No longer part of the South Tyrolean team will be Ryan Harrison, who left the team after only seven appearances.

In the first of six games on Thursday, the EC-KAC II will face the Rittner Buam. KA2 was already in action this week in the AHL on Tuesday and was only narrowly defeated by the team of the hour, HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice, with 1:2. Ritten surprised recently in the Italian championship. In the semifinals they celebrated a surprising victory against the HC Pustertal Wölfe. In the final, the "Buam" will now face Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey. In the AHL, Ritten is also in good form. From the last five games they celebrated four victories. In the standings, it comes to the duel of the tenth (RIT) with the 15th (KA2). Both teams have faced each other eight times in the Alps Hockey League so far. Ritten was successful in seven duels. The only victory achieved by Klagenfurt was in the last encounter, on 28.12.2019.

The HC Pustertal Wölfe, second in the standings, has to play at Red Bull Hockey Juniors after the surprising elimination in the semifinals of the Italian championship. The Juniors, on the other hand, made it to the final of the Austrian Alps Hockey League championship against the VEU Feldkirch. In the AHL, the Salzburg team was defeated twice at home last. In the standings, RBJ is in fifth place with 39 points. Pustertal is second in the standings (48 points). The South Tyroleans also lost in their last AHL game (2:3-SO vs. KEC). Nevertheless, PUS can take the lead in the standings with a win. Currently the gap to leader HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana, who are free from play on Thursday, is one point.

The EHC Lustenau and the SHC Fassa Falcons duel for the first time this season. While the "Falcons" did not play a game last week, the EHC was in action in the Austrian Alps Hockey League championship. In the semifinals, they won against the EC Bregenzerwald. The EHC is also in strong form in the AHL. They have won six of their last eight games. In their last outing, however, the Vorarlberg side conceded a clear 6:0 defeat at league leader Ljubljana. Fassa, in turn, lost their last two games. In total, they won only one of the past six games.
Czech Kvasnica signs with Fassa
Fassa has signed a new attacker with Michal Kvasnica. The 20-years-old Czech was last active with HC Orli Znojmo in the third Czech league. Kvasnica has also played in North America for two years. In the Western Hockey League he played for the Portland Winterhawks and the Vancouver Giants. In 105 games, Kvasnica scored 40 points (17G I 23A).

The Tyrolean team is currently 14th in the standings, four points behind the twelfth place and a playoff spot. Most recently, the "Eagles" managed their first win after twelve defeats in a row, against one of the top favorites for the title, the HC Pustertal Wölfe. Jesenice is in third place in the standings. The gap to the leader is five points. However, the Slovenians have still played three games less than table leader Ljubljana.

In the sixth and last game of the day, the HC Gherdeina valgardena.it will face the EC Bregenzerwald. Both teams are currently in ordinary form. While Val Gardena was only successful in one of the last five games, the "Wälder" also lost in four of the last five AHL games. In addition, the Vorarlberg team narrowly lost the semifinal of the Austrian AHL Championship. In the standings, Bregenzerwald is clearly on course for the playoffs despite the recent mixed results. With 31 points, they currently occupy the ninth place in the standings. Gherdeina, on the other hand, has to fight for a playoff spot. With 23 points and eleventh place in the standings, the South Tyroleans are only one point ahead of the thirteenth-placed SHC Fassa Falcons.
New attacker for Val Gardena
With Joonas Niemelä, Val Gardena has signed a new attacker. Ryan Harrison, on the other hand, will no longer be part of the team as he left the team after only seven games. Niemelä was most recently active with the Finnish sides Kiekko-Espoo (1G | 9A). The 24-years-old will play outside his home country for the first time in his carrer.
