Jesenice and Salzburg are back in race for top-6

The HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice and the Red Bull Hockey Juniors celebrated wins on Saturday in Alps Hockey League and are back in the race for the top-6. The big surprises of the round were delivered by EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel and VEU Feldkirch who captured two points against top-3 teams.

Jesenice is back in race for top-6
The HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice celebrated a 4:0 success over the EC-KAC II and is still in the race for the top-6. Both teams focused on defending in the first period and neutralized each other. Jesenice increased pressure in the second period and set the foundation for the win.
Poklukar opened the scoring and a double strike of Hebar brought the early decision. Jseenice finally celebrated a 4:0 success. With the sixths consecutive win Jesenice is still in the race for the top-6.
Asiago books must win
Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey booked a 4:1 success over Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey and brought themselves in lurking position for the top-6. Aften an opening period with no goals Asiago took control and the lead in the second. The Steel Wings Lind trailed by two goals in the final period. But the last ranked Steel Wings fought back one more time and narrowed the gap two won. Asiago increased pressure in the final period and booked a 4:1 win.
Juniors keep their chances for top-6
The Red Bull Hockey Juniors celebrated a 6:0 win in the direct duel between two top-6-aspirants. After the Fassa Falcons booked an important win against EHC Lustenau, the Falcons had to take a little setback in the battle for the top-6. The Juniors took control over the game right from the beginning and created the lead. In the second period the Juniors increased the lead to 3:0. The Falcons couldn’t fight back anymore and had to take a 0:6 defeat at the end. For the Juniors it was the third consecutive win.
Cortina wins top-6 battle
S.G. Cortina Hafro celebrated a win in the duel between two top-6 teams. With a 3:2 Shootout win Cortina temporarily secured their top-6-spot. For Lustenau the advantage to the sevenths team continues shrinking after their fifth’s consecutive loss. Cortina opened the scoring late in the first period. Lustenau managed to equalize in powerplay in the second but Cortina stroke back immediately. After only 28 seconds in the third Lustenau tied again and managed to receive no more goals in this third period. After an overtime with no goals and the better chances for Lustenau. Cortina secured the win after a spectacular shootout.
Broncos extend winning streak
The WSV Sterzing Broncos won the duel of neighbors in standings. Against the EK Zeller Eisbären the Broncos celebrated a 3:0 success and kept their chances for the top-6 alive. The first period was on an equal level with no goals. In the second period the Broncos opened the scoring. The Eisbären tried to come back but didn’t score. The Broncos found the decision in the third with two more goals. With the fourth consecutive win the Broncos are still in reach to the top-6.
Feldkirch books important overtime win
The VEU Feldkirch booked an extremely important overtime win against the Rittner Buam. With that win Feldkirch temporarily secured the sixth spot in standings. For the Buam it was the first defeat after three consecutive wins. Feldkirch took the lead twice in the first period. The Buam equalized in the second and even took the lead in the final period. Feldkrich tied twice in the final period so the decision had to be found in overtime. Martin Mairitsch finally found the decision for Feldkirch in the last minute in overtime.
Kitzbühel overpower Pustertal in Shootout
The EC Die Adler Kitzbühel defeated the HC Pustertal after shootout. Pustertal took the lead in the first period but Kitzbühel had the quick answer and tied. Pustertal took the lead in thes second again. Kitzbühel tied again four minutes before the end of the third period. After an overtime with no goals the Adler found the decision in shootout and ended their three game losing streak.
