For the first time in the history of the Alps Hockey League, HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice and S.G. Cortina Hafro will contest a final series. The opener took place on Saturday evening in Slovenia, with 1,350 spectators in the stands. Cortina, which reached the finals series just two days ago in the seventh semifinal game over Red Bull Hockey Juniors, took the lead in the first period with Tommaso Alvera scoring his fourth goal of the postseason. Goalie Marco De Filippo kept a clean sheet in the first, stopping all eleven shots on goal.

At the beginning of the second period, the home side got better and better into the game - and managed to equalize through their regular season top-scorer Zan Jezovsek only 69 seconds after the restart. And Jesenice followed suit: Midway through the game, Eric Pance scored on the Slovenians' first power play to take the lead. Gaber Glavic's team, still undefeated in the playoffs, did not let the lead slip away and scored 3-1. Jezovsek (48.) put the puck into the net for the second time. With 124 seconds to go, things got heated again after Riccardo Lacedelli (58.) scored to half the deficit, but Jesenice withstood the final onslaught and made everything clear with an empty-netter.
