Jesenice takes top spot with convincing home win over Juniors

In the only Tuesday game in the Alps Hockey League, HD Jesenice celebrated a convincing 5–1 victory over the Red Bull Hockey Juniors. The Slovenian side, for whom forward Zan Špari Leben scored a hat-trick, laid the foundation for the win with four goals in the opening period. With their third consecutive victory, Jesenice moved to the top of the standings.

Jesenice made a perfect start. In the second minute, Gregor Koblar scored following a 2-on-1 counterattack after a perfectly timed pass from Jaka Sturm. In the game’s first power play, Zan Špari Leben doubled the home side’s lead before adding another goal shortly afterwards to make it 3–0. After 18 minutes, Robert Sabolič scored Jesenice’s fourth goal.

The hosts added another in the middle period when Špari Leben finished off a fine passing move to complete his hat-trick. The game was effectively decided at that point, with the score remaining 5–0 until the closing stages. Luca Fischer then scored a consolation goal for the visitors during a 5-on-3 power play. With their 5–1 victory, Jesenice moved to the top of the Alps Hockey League standings.
