Salzburg came into the game on a two-game winning streak. Jesenice, who arrived in Salzburg with seven road losses in eight away games, got off to the better start and took the lead in the 16th minute through a one-timer from Lesnicar. Early in the second period, the Juniors had a good chance to tie it up, but on the counterattack Baloh made it 2–0. Just 35 seconds later, Gesson cut the deficit in half with a fine solo effort, and Wurzer equalised while shorthanded. In the 33rd minute, Eliseev completed the turnaround for the home side, and before the second intermission Maul extended the lead to 4–2 with another shorthanded marker. In the final period, the Juniors struck twice on the power play to seal a 6–2 win and return to the top of the standings.
