With Daniel Fießinger in the net but without injured Samuel Witting and Alexander Lahoda, the Juniors fired the first good shot goalwards after five minutes with Lucas Birnbaum only hitting the post. Just one minute later an attempt by Andrej Tavzelj found its way into the net for a guest's lead. After a killed penalty, the hosts hit back, though: Dario Winkler got the puck at the blue line and passed to Christof Wappis, who tied it from the slot. Shortly before the first intermission, Lukas Kainz even turned it around after a nice solo attempt. After the restart Adis Alagic scored the equalizer and Tadej Cimzar (34') lit the lamp for another Jesenice lead. However, the Red Bulls scored a late one again as Julian Klöckl netted after a great combination with 58 seconds to go in the middle frame. Early in the third the Slovenes showed their quality again when Miha Logar went top shelf. It took until the 53rd minute for the equalizer as Wappis added his second of the night with the backhand. With 96 seconds on the clock, Lukas Kainz turned it around once again for a Salzburg win. Victor Östling made it safe with an empty netterfor a 6:4 home victory.
