Red Bull Hockey Juniors continue home run
For the 22nd time in a row, the Red Bull Hockey Juniors scored points at a home game. Against the VEU Feldkirch the Young Bulls won with 4:1. It was the seventh home win in a row. In all seven games RBJ scored at least three goals. For Feldkirch it was the third defeat from the last five games. In the first duel of the season, on Saturday evening, the Salzburg team were the better team from the start, but it took until the 30th minute of play until the first goal was scored. Four minutes later, Oskar Maier increased the score to 2:0. In the last period, Danjo Leonhardt scored after twelve minutes to make the decisive 3:0. The 18-year-old German also set the final score to 4:1. Dylan Stanley scored in the meantime to make it 1:3 for the VEU. With the victory the Young Bulls also put themselves at the top of the league table, with a one-point lead over HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana, but also four games more played.
Steel Wings with first win of the season
The Steel Wings Linz won its first game of the season against the EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel. It was only the Steel Wings' second victory in the 63rd AHL game. The guests from Linz were already leading with 2:0 after the first period. In the end the game went into extra time after Kitzbühel scored twice in the last period. In overtime, Lukas Pohl scored the decisive goal after three minutes and 47 seconds to give SWL a 3:2 away win. It was the second defeat in a row for Kitzbühel.
Jesenice remains unbeaten at home
HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice remains unbeaten at home in the fourth home game of the season. There are already six AHL matches in which the Slovenians have not lost at home. This time it was the EHC Lustenau who lost at the Slovenian´s. Within 24 hours the second Vorarlberg team lost. Yesterday, Friday, the EC Bregenzerwald played at Jesenice and lost with 2:1 after shootout. In this game against the EHC, Blaz Tomazevic was the man of the match with two goals and three assists. While Lustenau conceded the first defeat after two wins in a row, Jesenice remains unbeaten for the seventh game in a row. In total, the Slovenians only lost one match of the season, right at the beginning against rival HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana.
Pustertal wins crunch encounter against Cortina
The HC Pustertal Wölfe won the crunch encounter of the day against S.G. Cortina Hafro with 3:2. Recently on November 14th Cortina celebrated a narrow 3:2 home victory after Shootout over PUS. The second duel of the season was balanced right from the start. In the first period no goals were scored, but Cortina had a little more of the game. In the middle period, however, it was the first time that the fans in front of the television were allowed to cheer on this evening. Leonhard Hasler gave the hosts the 1:0 lead in the 34th minute of play. This lasted until the 43rd minute of play, before Phil Pietroniro equalized the score with his sixth goal of the season. After that it became turbulent. In the 50th minute of play, Marco Sanna gave Cortina a 2:1 lead thanks to a SH. Only 40 seconds later PUS equalized in the powerplay which still took place. Again, only twelve seconds later Daniel Glira scored the decisive 3:2 for the hosts. For Cortina it was the first defeat after four wins in a row.
Fassa with first victory over Val Gardena in fourth duel of the season
The SHC Fassa Falcons won with 5:2 at the HC Gherdeina valgardena.it. It was Fassa's first victory over Val Gardena in the fourth duel of the season. Previously, the two duels of the Return-2-Play phase, as well as the match exactly one week ago, went to the team of Head Coach Erwin Kostner. For Val Gardena it was the second defeat in a row, Fassa scored three points like in the Return-2-Play duel against Asiago. The hosts had the better start into the game. In the seventh minute GHE took the lead with a powerplay goal from Diego Glück. However, the guests from Fassa were then able to control the game to a large extent. Until the 40th minute of play FAS was already leading with 4:1. The top performer of the past AHL week, Joseph Mizzi (FAS), scored twice.
Fourth defeat in a row for Sterzing
The Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan lost at Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey with 6:3. It was the fourth defeat in a row for the Broncos. So Asiago took revenge for the 2:3 away defeat on October 31st. In the ninth minute of the game, the guests took the lead. Trevor Gooch scored in a PP2. In the first period the hosts turned the match around within one and a half minutes and five seconds before the end of the first period ASH even increased their lead to 3:1. In the second period Sterzing tried everything again and scored two goals within three minutes to equalize the game. But again, shortly before the end of the period, ASH again took the lead. In the last period the WSV's resistance was broken. Asiago scored two more times and in the end they won clearly and deservedly.
