Juniors extend lead at the top | Asiago wins top clash against Zell am See

The Red Bull Hockey Juniors recorded a convincing win over EC Bregenzerwald on Saturday, extending their lead at the top of the Alps Hockey League standings. While Asiago narrowly prevailed in the top game against Zell am See, Kitzbühel returned to the top five in Rob Daum’s debut as head coach. Meanwhile, bottom side Unterland celebrated their first shutout of the season.

EC Bregenzerwald – Red Bull Hockey Juniors 2:6 (0:5, 1:0, 1:1)
The Juniors celebrated their third straight victory, further increasing their lead in the standings. In front of more than 1,500 fans, Eliseev, Lanzinger, Bloch, Auer, and Oberhauser gave the visitors a commanding 5:0 lead in the opening period. Bregenzerwald got on the board through Kramer in the second frame, before Grasser added a second late on. Eliseev sealed the deal with his second goal of the night on the power play, making it 6:2.

HC Migross Asiago – EK Die Zeller Eisbären 4:3 (2:0, 0:2, 2:1)
Around 2,700 fans witnessed a thrilling top clash. Asiago started in style with early goals from Johnson and Calisti, but the defending champions struck back in the second period to level it at 2:2. Asiago regained the lead in the final third, only for Uschan to equalize again. A power-play goal from Porco finally decided the contest. With their fifth consecutive AHL win, Asiago took a big step toward the Master Round.

Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel – S.G. Cortina Hafro 5:1 (1:1, 3:0, 1:0)
A strong crowd of around 1,100 fans saw a confident home performance from Kitzbühel in Rob Daum’s first game behind the bench. The hosts took an early lead through Fröwis before Pompanin equalized for Cortina on the power play. Kitzbühel then pulled away with three goals in ten minutes during the second period, with Podlipnik setting the final score at 5:1 in the 57th minute. With their fourth straight home victory, Kitzbühel climbed back into the top five.

Hockey Unterland Cavaliers – Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan 4:0 (0:0, 0:0, 4:0)
In the third meeting of the season, Unterland finally managed their first win over Sterzing. The last-placed Cavaliers started strongly but initially failed to convert their chances. The game remained scoreless until the 44th minute, when Erik Potsinok netted a natural hat trick within ten minutes to decide the game. His twin brother Marek Potsinok added the 4:0 late on. Goaltender Tizian Giovanelli stopped 29 shots to secure Unterland’s first shutout of the campaign.
