As winners of the Masterround, the Red Bull Hockey Juniors could choose their opponent for the quarterfinals. They chose the Hockey Unterland Cavaliers, against whom they had previously won three of four season meetings. On Monday, the Red Bulls got off to the better start and took the lead in the eighth minute: the South Tyroleans couldn't get the puck out of their own zone and Daniel Assavolyuk opened the scoring from close range. With a shot from the left faceoff circle Philipp Wimmer (17th) increased before the first intermission. After the restart, the guests conceded three penalties within six minutes, and twice the Juniors took advantage of their man advantage. After some nice passes, Oskar Maier added a third (23rd), followed shortly by Jakob Weber's goal. Although the Cavaliers also had two power palys, the score remained 4:0 after 40 minutes. In the final period, Aljaz Predan scored the final goal with four-against-four on the ice. The Juniors thus took the lead in the "best-of-7" quarterfinal series, game two will take place on Thursday in Neumarkt.
