It took almost 18 minutes to break the deadlock when Anthony Luciani got on a breakaway and scored with a shot between goalie´s pads. Period 2 brought less chances and dangerous moments than the first one. Visitors were close to equalizing two times, but both Alderson and DeSantis were denied by Lassila. On the other side, Luciani had another chance after individual effort and a backhand shot saved by Bakala. Early in the third period, McPherson set up Radim Matus on the left wing and his wristshot towards the far post beat Bakala on his glove side. That changed the game, Znojmo got the upper hand and VSV could not find opportunities or chances anymore. With six minutes to go, Luciani got to a loose puck in the offensive zone and fired it straight past Bakala. One minute later, Allan McPherson who had a dominant game, got clean through on a breakaway and increased the score to 4:0. Despite late emotions and some fights, the score remained unchanged.
