Standings in the "best-of-7" series: 1:1
The EC-KAC made an impressive comeback on Sunday with a 5:2 away win at EC Red Bull Salzburg. The final series is now tied after two games. For the KAC it was the sixth away win in their sixth away game in the playoffs. At home, they not only conceded a defeat at the start of the final, but also in two quarterfinal games against the Pioneers Vorarlberg. The Red Bulls, on the other hand, have been beaten in two of their six away games in the playoffs so far. In the final opener, they won 1:0/OT in the Heidi Horten Arena, which will be sold out again on Tuesday. Paul Huber scored the game-winner in the 65th minute.

A series score of 1:1 is historically a pretty good omen for the defending champion from Salzburg: In "best-of-7" series that were tied after two games, Salzburg prevailed 4:1 without further defeat more often (six times) than they lost the confrontation (four times). The Red Bulls won 17 of 21 series in which the score was tied 1:1. Encounters with Salzburg on Klagenfurt ice have usually been close affairs in the recent past, with five of the last nine meetings going into overtime.
