KAC and 99ers celebrate wins | Tight loss for Salzburg in Overtime

Despite of many chances in the squad the EC-KAC won against HKM Zvolen and clinched the tournament win. The Moser Medical Graz 99ers grinded out a win against the Kölner Haie in Overtime. The EC Red Bull Salzburg lost in overtime against EHC Biel.

99ers celebrate win against Kölner Haie
The Moser Medical Graz99ers won against the Kölner Haie in overtime. After a rather bumpy start the team of Doug Mason found its rhythm. But the hosts had the better starting period and scored the first goal of the night. In the second period the 99ers increased their pressure and got rewarded. In the 31st minute Collberg tied the game. Ograjensek ended the period with a double strike and brought the 3:1 lead after 40 minutes. In the third period the hosts fought back and tied the game with two further goals. Hillding managed to recapture the lead, but Köln didn’t give up and tied once again. In the overtime the hosts started better, but Erik Kirchschläger brought the win for the 99ers.

EC Red Bull Salzburg lost against EHC Biel in Overtime
After only 17 seconds the EHC Biel scored the first goal. Alexander Rauchenwald managed to tie the game, but Biel recaptured the lead quickly. In the second period the Suisse-Team started with a double strike and took the 4:1 lead. Bud Holloway brought his team with the 2:4 back. Chad Kolarik narrowed the gap in the beginning of the third period. It was an open game again. Brendan Millekson deflected a shot for the equalizer. In overtime it was the Austrian Peter Schneider who brought the win for EHC Biel.

EC-KAC captures tournament win
After the two wins on Thursday and on Friday, the EC-KAC also won the third game and captured the tournament win. Despite off giving seven players a break the KAC celebrated a 2:1 win. The KAC created good chances in the first period, but goalie Tomáš Tomek kept the zero in the first period. The second period was opened by the biggest chance for the KAC – but Stefan Geier couldn’t overcome the goalie. But four minutes later the KAC was more successful. Patrick Harand scored the first goal of the night after perpetration of Siim Liivik. In the final period it was Marco Richter who doubled the lead. Rastislav Špirko managed to narrow the gap, but the KAC brought the 2:1 lead over the time.
