KAC and Bratislava sign defenders

The EC KAC strengthens itself with the 31-year-old Canadian 🇨🇦 Paul Postma. The defender has played 205 NHL games in his career so far, and has played in the American Hockey League a further 265 times. In the last two seasons, Postma has gained European experience in the KHL and most recently in the Swiss NLA at HC Lugano. The iClinic Bratislava Capitals also hit the transfer market once again. The Slovaks signed the Canadian defender Ryan Culkin.

Paul Postma was born in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada, like the latest KAC newcomer Matt Fraser. He spent his junior years in the Western Hockey League, where he developed into the NHL draft pick: In 2007 he was selected by the Atlanta Thrashers, for whom he also made his debut in the world's strongest league in March 2011. The right-shot defender came to regular NHL appearances after the franchise moved to Winnipeg, where he played for the Jets a total of 190 times. In 2017, the Boston Bruins signed Postma as a free agent, and in 2018 he moved to the Russian-dominated KHL, where he collected 33 scorer points in 71 games for de Ak Bars Kazan and Metallurg Magnitogorsk. In November 2019, the defensive player moved to Switzerland, where he represented HC Lugano at club level and also won the Spengler Cup with Team Canada.

The contract between EC-KAC and Paul Postma covers the remaining season 2020/21, the Canadian is expected to arrive in Klagenfurt by the end of this week.

Bratislava signs Ryan Culkin
The Bratislava Capitals signed the Canadian defender Ryan Culkin. Last season, the 26-year-old played for Rocket de Laval (AHL) and Maine Mariners Hockey (ECHL).
