KAC turns match around again
After Friday's 3-2 overtime win, EC-KAC added another win against the spusu Vienna Capitals on Sunday to force a deciding game in the "best-of-seven" quarterfinal series. Just like two days ago, the Klagenfurt team was initially trailing 0:2 after only 40 seconds. James Sheppard and Nikolaus Hartl put the Viennese, who were led into the game by assistant coach Christian Dolezal and were without their top scorer Nicolai Meyer, into the lead with two goals every 20 seconds. For the KAC, this cold start was a wake-up call at the right time. Goals from Daniel Obersteiner, Matt Fraser and Paul Postma turned the match around before the end of the first period. The Capitals could not make up this deficit and finally had to admit defeat with 3:5. For the seventh time, the Viennese went into game six with a 3-2 lead, only three times they were able to win this sixth game - but the series was won in a total of five. It was only the second time in their playoff history that the KAC forced a game seven after trailing the series 2:3.

Ljubljana forces game 7 in 78-minute playoff fight
HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana wins its second straight game against season-ending odds to force a deciding game to advance to the semifinals. After the previous high-scoring games, both teams put more focus on defense in this clash. The home side managed to build a two goal lead in the first period. However, the VSV fought their way back into the match and evened the score by the 55th minute with goals from Kevin Moderer and Scott Kosmachuk. In the endless overtime, Blaz Tomazevic provided the deciding goal with a deflected shot in the 79th minute. The goal was initially not given on the ice because of a potential "high stick", but after video review it was determined a "good goal".
