EC-KAC celebrated a dominant 8–3 home win on Thursday to take a 2–1 lead in the best-of-seven series. The first two games also ended in home victories: Klagenfurt opened the series with a 3–0 shutout, followed by a 2–1 home win for Fehérvár. After just three total goals in each of the first two games, Thursday’s matchup produced eleven goals.

Nick Petersen in particular left his mark on the game: the Canadian recorded a six-point night. For the first time in league history, a player reached six points in a postseason game – the previous record had been five.

In Székesfehérvár, however, KAC struggled offensively in Game 2 of the quarterfinals and consequently lost the contest. In the regular season, the KAC won both of their away games in Hungary (2–1 SO, 6–3).
