The win2day ICE Hockey League takes a break with a spectacular 29th round. The EC-KAC celebrated a 4:2 derby win against EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV, keeping their local rivals at bay. Hydro Fehérvár AV 19, which was heavily weakened, was able to extend its lead in the standings with a win at HC Pustertal, also because the top two teams in pursuit suffered defeats: While EC Red Bull Salzburg lost at home to HC TIWAG Innsbruck after 60 minutes for the first time this season, Steinbach Black Wings Linz suffered a defeat at the hands of Bolzano.

Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey, meanwhile, announced the signing of Finnish forward Emil Oksanen, who joins the team from Helsingin Jokerit (FIN).

KAC wins 354th Carinthian derby
The EC KAC celebrated its second derby victory of the season. In the 354th meeting between these two teams, two new KAC derby scorers entered the socring list, who also turned the game around after Villach took the lead in the first period. Finn van Ee was able to celebrate his first ever goal in the win2day ICE Hockey League when he equalized, before Simeon Schwinger put the KAC ahead with his first derby goal. After trailing 1:3 in the final period, Villach were able to make the encounter exciting once again with a power play, but Klagenfurt ultimately prevailed 4:2. With this success, the Red Jackets keep the EC VSV at a distance, even if the places for the Carinthian teams did not change, the EC-KAC's lead is already seven points.

Fehérvár go into the break as league leaders
Heavily shorthanded - David Kiss' team had to do without nine players - Hydro Fehérvár AV19 managed a 3:2 win at HC Pustertal. While the Hungarians were thus able to extend their lead in the table and go into the International Break as leaders, HC Pustertal had to vacate its place in the top six. This was the fifth win in a row for the Hungarians. Their lead over second-placed Linz is already five points.

Innsbruck defeats Salzburg
HC TIWAG Innsbruck became the first team this season to win after 60 minutes on Salzburg ice. While this was an important statement for the Tyroleans in the battle for the top six, the reigning champions also lost out on Matthias Trattnig's "retirement night" immediately after their defeat against VSV. After a goalless first period, the visitors from Innsbruck were ice-cold and took a 2:0 lead in the middle period. The Sharks increased their lead to 3:0 right at the start of the final period before the Red Bulls started a comeback, but did not make it into overtime. Salzburg go into the International Break in third place, but have played two fewer games than the top duo.

Bolzano moves into the top 6
In a duel between two of the hottest teams in the win2day ICE Hockey League, HCB Südtirol Alperia celebrated a 4:2 victory over Steinbach Black Wings Linz to move into the top six. Bolzano controlled the encounter against the Upper Austrians for long stretches and took the early lead in the second period. The Steinbach Black Wings Linz remain in second place in the table even after this defeat, as EC Red Bull Salzburg also lost.
