EC-KAC broke the 100-point mark on Friday and successfully defended its first place in the win2day ICE Hockey League standings. The Steinbach Black Wings Linz earned their pre-playoff ticket with a shutout win. The final open spot will be decided on Sunday in the Hungarian derby between Fehérvár and Budapest.
HCB Südtirol Alperia – EC-KAC 3:6 (0:0, 0:3, 3:3)
KAC became the first team to reach 100 points and defended its lead atop the table. After a goalless opening period, the Klagenfurt team pulled away in the second with three goals: Jan Mursak opened the scoring off a feed from Schwinger, and Matt Fraser added two power-play tallies. Although Bolzano cut the deficit three times in the final third, KAC always found an answer. Schwinger’s empty-netter sealed the deal. While the Red Jackets are on course to win the regular season, Bolzano will enter the playoffs as the fourth seed.
Moser Medical Graz99ers – EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV 2:0 (0:0, 1:0, 1:0)
Graz dominated the first period with high pace and constant pressure but was repeatedly denied by VSV goalie Swette. In the middle frame, Collins broke the deadlock with a solo effort. In the final period, the former Villach forward doubled the lead after a setup from Schiechl. Despite a strong offensive push from the guests, Lagacé stood tall and collected another shutout. The Styrians thus keep their hopes for first place in the regular season alive.
HC Falkensteiner Pustertal – HK Olimpija 3:2 OT (0:1, 1:0, 1:1)
In an open contest, Pance put the visitors ahead early. Just 35 seconds into the second period, Tičar tied it, and Purdeller later gave Pustertal the lead. Olimpija struck back through Polei on a late power play to force overtime, but Blum scored the game-winner in the extra frame. Pustertal can still overtake Ljubljana, which has already completed its regular-season schedule, on the final game day.
Vienna Capitals – Hydro Fehérvár AV19 4:3 SO (2:1, 1:1, 0:1)
A total of 7,022 fans packed the STEFFL Arena, setting a new club attendance record: the Capitals averaged 5,128 spectators per home game — the highest in team history. On the ice, the Caps started strong and took the lead twice in the opening period. After a goal from Koschek, the hosts seemed in control, but Fehérvár battled back. Gerlach tied it 3–3 in the third. In the shootout, Vey secured the home win, guaranteeing the Capitals home-ice advantage for the pre-playoffs. Fehérvár, meanwhile, must fight for the final pre playoff spot in the derby against Budapest.
FTC-Telekom – Steinbach Black Wings Linz 0:2 (0:1, 0:0, 0:1)
The Black Wings clinched their pre-playoff berth with a 2–0 road win in Budapest. Seventeen-year-old Jonathan Oschgan scored the game-winner in the sixth minute — his fifth goal of the season — finishing decisively on a 2-on-1 rush. Goalie Tirronen made several key saves to preserve the shutout. Barron sealed the victory with an empty-netter in the closing minute.
HC TIWAG Innsbruck – Pioneers Vorarlberg 6:5 OT (0:2, 3:2, 2:1)
Innsbruck bid farewell to its home fans with a 6–5 overtime win, giving captain Jan Lattner a perfect sendoff after seven seasons with the Sharks. The visitors struck twice on the power play and led 2–0 after the first. Coatta pulled one back, but Maier and Reini extended the lead to 4–1 within 41 seconds. The Sharks rallied in the middle frame and finally tied the game at 5–5 thanks to a power-play hat trick from Lajeunesse (49th, 52nd). In overtime, goalie Vernon stopped a penalty from Maier before Sproule netted the winner in the 64th minute.
