VSV pushes Fehérvár into the playoffs
EC Grand Immo VSV celebrated a 5-3 win over Dornbirn Bulldogs on Sunday, helping Hydro Fehérvár, who were match-free this weekend, into the 2021 playoffs of the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League. For the Dornbirn Bulldogs, the Top-5 - and thus the early playoff qualification - moved back into the distance. The Villach team, on the other hand, scored important points in the fight for bonus points in the Qualification Round. For the first time this season, the away team prevailed in the duel between these two teams. EC Grand Immo VSV started strongly and efficiently into the game, taking a 3:0 lead in the first period. It was only after the 4:0 in the middle period that the Bulldogs were able to add to their tally. The Vorarlberg team started to catch up in the final period and reduced the lead to 3:4, but an empty netter by Chris Collins brought the decision for VSV, who climbed up to ninth place in the standings. The eighth-placed Innsbruck team, like the Eagles, have 41 points in the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League so far.

KAC clinches playoff ticket
The EC-KAC celebrated a victory over the Steinbach Black Wings 1992 and thus qualified as the third team early for the playoffs 2021. After the 3-2 victory over the Upper Austrians, the Klagenfurter even climbed to second place in the standings. The KAC got off to a quick start on Sunday. Just 16 seconds after the face-off, Nick Petersen already put the score at 1:0. In a similar manner, the KAC also started the second and the third period. It never took more than two minutes for the KAC to score. However, the Black Wings 1992 reared back in the final minutes. Within 100 seconds, the Upper Austrians reduced the score to 2:3, but the last team in the standings did not make it to overtime.

Bolzano extends league lead with second shutout in a row
HCB Südtirol Alperia beat the iClinic Bratislava Capitals 6-0 in the last Sunday game of the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League and thus increased the cushion on the first chaser. The South Tyroleans were already able to secure their playoff ticket on Friday. Bratislava is still in the middle of the three-way battle for edge eight, where important bonus points for the Qualification Round are at stake. For the Foxes and Leland Irving it was already the second shutout in a row. Bolzano thus remains unbeaten with all four games of the regular season, losing only one point. After a scoreless opening period on Sunday, the Foxes really got going in the middle period and put the score at 3-0. It continued in the same vein in the final period. The South Tyroleans finally prevailed 6:0 and increased their lead over the first chaser to eight points.
