After missing more than a month, KAC forward Jan Muršak made a perfect comeback in the derby. In the 11th minute, the former NHL player opened the scoring for the hosts on a three-on-one break. Just seven minutes later, the Slovenian added a highlight-reel wraparound goal to complete his brace.

Early in the second period, KAC went on their first power play, but it was the visitors who struck instead — Maximilian Rebernig converted his own rebound to make it 2–1. Villach grew into the game but soon suffered another setback when Maximilian Preiml’s shot from the blue line restored a two-goal cushion for the hosts in the 35th minute.

At the start of the final period, Matt Fraser extended KAC’s lead to 4–1. Although Philipp Lindner pulled one back for VSV, a power-play goal from David Maier sealed a well-deserved 5–2 home victory for Klagenfurt. With their seventh straight derby win at home, KAC also strengthened their position at the top of the win2day ICE Hockey League standings.

Both teams will be back in action on Sunday: VSV hosts HCB Südtirol Alperia, while KAC travels to Vienna.
