Facing the Czech powerhouse in Klagenfurt, the hosts saw Sparta’s international experience on display right from the start. The KAC showed a good performance, but the visitors controlled the game and ultimately skated away with a 4-1 victory.

Sparta struck early, breaking the deadlock just four minutes in after winning a battle at the blue line and finishing a breakaway with a backhander. In the second period, the Prague side doubled the lead shorthanded before adding a third with a well-executed play in the slot.

KAC finally got on the board late in the third: Jesper Jensen Aabo connected with a pinpoint stretch pass to Finn van Ee, who used his space down the left wing and slipped the puck under the goalie’s pads. With two minutes left, Klagenfurt pulled the netminder for an extra attacker, but Sparta sealed the result with an empty-netter to make it 4-1.
