The northern Italians are still waiting for their first road win after regulation this season – they have only ever won twice on the road. The "Stellati" have never won in Salzburg. The Red Bulls are on a five-game point streak and have been unbeaten at home for three games. Asiago will be without Beaulieu, Moncada and Saracino for the clash with the champions, goalkeeper Justin Fazio is also in danger of missing out.
Tue, 09.01.2024, 7.15 pm: EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV – spusu Vienna Capitals
Referees: STERNAT, TRILAR, Hribar, Mantovani. | >> live.ice.hockey <<
There is a lot at stake for both EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV and the spusu Vienna Capitals: The Carinthians need points to defend their sixth place in the table, while the Viennese need points to make up the twelve points cap in the remaining 14 games to secure a place in the pre-playoffs. The form of both teams is similar, having won three of their last five games. The home team has won each of the previous confrontations this season. At home, the "Adler" have won their last four games against the "Caps". VSV has been very strong on the PK recently, not conceding a goal when shorthanded in their last eight games. On the other hand, things are not going well in the PP, with 4 goals from the last 16 games with numerical superiority. Vienna's latest addition Reid Stefanson is said to have already arrived in the Austrian capital on Monday morning and is going through the registration formalities. Alexander Rauchenwald is back in action for Villach. Benjamin Lanzinger and Layne Viveiros are out, John Hughes is questionable.
Tue, 09.01.2024, 7.15 pm: Hydro Fehérvár AV19 – HCB Südtirol Alperia
Referees: FICHTNER, NAGY, Gatol-Schafranek, Zgonc. | >> live.ice.hockey <<
Things have not gone according to plan for Hydro Fehérvár AV19 and HCB Südtirol Alperia in the last few gamedays, as both teams have lost their last four games, while the Hungarians have at least picked up a point twice. Nevertheless, Székesfehérvár had to relinquish top spot in the table, while Bolzano dropped out of the top six. Both teams struggled to score goals: AVS scored five during the losing streak, Bolzano their six. In the two games so far this season, the road team has always won. The Foxes will be able to call on new signing Sam Harvey on Tuesday: The goalie will make the trip to Hungary and a decision on his involvement will be made on match day.
Tue, 09.01.2024, 7.15 pm: HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie – EC-KAC
Referees: BERNEKER, SEEWALD E., Martin, Wimmler. | >> live.ice.hockey <<
Two teams in absolute top form compete in Innsbruck, as HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie welcomes the EC-KAC. The Tyroleans have won their last five games and have scored in each of their last seven games. Klagenfurt's point streak is already twelve games "heavy", with four wins in a row after regulation recently and thus the lead in the table for the first time in two and a half years. The "Rotjacken" are now one of the best road teams in the league, having scored in every away game since mid-October (2:3 @G99 on October 15th). Eight of the last eleven appearances in Innsbruck have ended in success for the Red & Whites. In the two encounters so far this season, the home team has always come out on top, with Klagenfurt winning on aggregate. Innsbruck's top scorer Kevin Roy (17G|26A) has an upright goal-scoring streak of five games. The EC-KAC will be missing Fabian Hochegger due to illness, Luka Gomboc is available as an additional attacker. Thomas Hundertpfund will play his 850th game in the win2day ICE Hockey League.
Tue, 09.01.2024, 7.30 pm: BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg – Moser Medical Graz99ers
Referees: HUBER A., NIKOLIC K., Fleischmann, Pardatscher. | >> live.ice.hockey <<
The BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg are on a remarkable point streak at home: since December 1st (3-6 defeat against RBS), they have won five of their six games, always scoring points. Most recently, the champions and their runners-up Salzburg and Bolzano were put in their place. Guus van Nes and Steven Owre in particular continue to leave their mark on the Pioneers' game: The Dutchman has scored at least once in the last six games, while Owre is still the best goal scorer in the win2day ICE Hockey League with eight goals from the last ten games. The Moser Medical Graz99ers must stop this duo if they want a win and thus close the gap to tenth place. As bottom of the table, the disadvantage compared to tenth place is already 19 points, and only a brilliant finish can propel the Styrians into the pre-playoffs. Kirchschläger, Bauer, Grafenthin and Viksten were missing against VSV recently. It is not yet clear whether they will be involved this time. Graz have scored in every away game in Vorarlberg so far, winning the first season duel this year 2-1 after extra time.
Tue, 09.01.2024, 7.45 pm: HC Pustertal Wölfe – HK SZ Olimpija
Referees: PIRAVIC, ZRNIC, Rigoni, Sparer. | >> live.ice.hockey <<
The clash between HC Pustertal Wölfe and HK SZ Olimpija pits two in-form teams against each other, as the South Tyroleans recently impressed in the derby against Bolzano (4-1), while the Slovenians are unbeaten in four games and have been particularly impressive in attack: The "Dragons" have scored five goals per game during their winning streak, two more than their season average. Karhula's team have yet to lose to the South Tyroleans this year. The "Wolves" have the best special teams in the league, leading in PP (27.08%) and PK (86.09%). The two teams are next to each other in the table, with Pustertal's advantage of five points in eighth place. For the home team, it's all about not losing touch with the top six with a win, while the "Dragons" would be up to two points closer with a victory.
