KAC makes it to Red Bulls Salute finals

After Klagenfurt opened the Red Bulls Salute tournament with a shutout against bet-at-home rivals EC Red Bull Salzburg, the spusu Vienna Capitals suffered a tight defeat against DEL side EHC Red Bull München. In addition, HC Bolzano and the Dornbirn Bulldogs celebrated preseason victories.

The Red Bulls Salute in Kitzbühel was opened on Saturday afternoon with the match between the EC Red Bull Salzburg and the EC-KAC. In front of 400 spectators in the Kitzbühel Sportpark, the two teams of the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League fought a spirited battle. After the goalies kept a clean sheet in the first, the Klagenfurt team made better use of their chances as the match progressed. A brace by Manuel Geier (35.) and Blaz Gregorc (36.) gave the Carinthians a 2-0 lead. At the beginning of the final period the Bulls had good chances, but could not overcome KAC goalie Sebastian Dahm. After ideal preliminary work of Thomas Koch Rok Tičar made the preliminary decision. Manuel Geier finished off the scoring with an empty netter. KAC will meet DEL club EHC Red Bull Munich in the final on Sunday.

Caps with tight defeat against Munich
In the second semi-final, the Germans narrowly won 2:1 against spusu Vienna Capitals. In the first period the DEL representative had more of a game. After Caps goalie Bernhard Starkbaum was on the spot several times, Luca Zitterbart went top-shelf in the 15th minute. After the restart, the Viennese got better and better and set the tone at times. After they had just failed on soe occasions, new arrival Graham McPhee tied it with a shorthanded marker. But the Red Bulls Salute title defender from Munich took the lead again shortly before the second break. With a bit of luck, Yasin Ehliz went through and defeated Starkbaum between the legs. In a physical last third, the Caps put pressure on Munich, but could no longer force the equalizer. So the Cameron team will play against Salzburg on Sunday for third place.

Bolzano celebrates clear victory at Asiago
The HCB Südtirol Alperia also celebrated a victory in its second preseason game. As a guest of AHL team Asiago, the Bolzano team got a start made to measure and after less than three minutes they took a 2-0 lead by goals from Giliati and Insam. Until the first break, Catenacci, Alberga and Bernard even increased the lead to 5-0. After that, the hosts came into the game better, HCB goalie Fazio could also distinguish themselves several times. Asiago scored two powerplay goals in the meantime, but the final point was scored by another player from South Tyrol: Anthony Bardaro scored Bolzano’s sixth for a 6-2 road win against his former club. The return match will take place tomorrow at Palaonda

Dornbirn wins at home debut
For the first time the Dornbirn Bulldogs welcomed their regular fans in their arena. On the ice, the cracks of Kai Suikkanen beat partner club EC Bregenzerwald 6:0. Already in the third minute Simeon Schwinger brought the team from the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League into the lead. Romig and Leclerc ensured a 3-0 lead after the first period. Jevpalovs raised with a shorthander early in the middle and exactly halfway through the game the Bulldogs made half a dozen with a brace (Leclerc, Antonitsch). The score of 6:0 did not change, the EC Bregenzerwald was denied an consolation goal.
