For the fifth time in the 136 games between the EC-KAC and the spusu Vienna Capitals so far, the game has ended 1:0 - for the fourth time the Klagenfurt side won. This means that in the anniversary game of Caps captain Mario Fischer, who played his 500th game for Vienna, the winning streak of Dave Cameron’s team was destroyed at five. For the first time in the running season, the Caps had to take a home-defeat after regulation.

Already the first frame offered a good pace, both teams put a lot of emphasis on defense - there were few compelling chances. In the second period a similar picture followed at first, before Vienna built up its offensive actions in a structured way and created good opportunities. The second section ended 4:13 minutes earlier, because of technical problems at the rink itself, which brought the break forward. This was followed by an "extended" final frame, where Manuel Ganahl (50.) hit the game-winner. In the remaining ten minutes of the game, Vienna weakened with two penalties and was no longer decisively dangerous. In the end, Sebastian Dahm's third shutout of the season captured the Klagenfurt away win, lifting the "Rotjacken" to third place in the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League.
