The KAC got off to a brilliant start in the away game at Olimpija. Simeon Schwinger put the visitors ahead after just 116 seconds. Just two minutes later, Senna Peeters increased the lead to 2:0, but Ljubljana were not discouraged by the early double strike and reduced the deficit to 1:2 in the ninth minute through Marcel Mahkovec. The first period nevertheless ended in favour of the visitors as Thimo Nickl made it 3:1 in the 19th minute during a powerplay.

Ljubljana improved in the second period and pulled back to 2:3 through Nik Simsic in the 28th minute. However, the KAC found the right answer again: Thomas Hundertpfund restored the two-goal lead around a minute and a half later. The score remained 4:2 for the visitors until eleven-and-a-half minutes before the end of the game, when Matt Fraser scored to make it 5:2 in favor of the second-placed team. The Canadian also scored the KAC´s sixth and final goal with just under three minutes remaining. It was the 34-year-old's second brace of the season. The forward has also scored two hat-tricks so far. Ziga Pane made the final score for Ljubljana just a short time later.
