For Champion HCB Südtirol Alperia, EC Red Bull Salzburg and EV Vienna Capitals continues the Champions Hockey League with road-games this week. All three clubs are among the top teams in their groups and they have good chances to step up to the next round as well. Vienna is leading in group A, Bozen (group C) and Salzburg (group G) are ranked second in their pot.

The Vienna Capitals will be guest in Zürich on Tuesday. The Austrians are leading in group A ahead of ZSC Lions (SUI) and Frölunda Indians (SWE). Each teams has collected seven points out of four matches in this Champions Hockey League season so far. The Swiss team is coached by Serge Aubin. The Canadian was Head Coach in Vienna from 2016 until 2018 and has lead the club to its last title (2017). Besides, each team had a good run lately: The Caps have been successful in all (eight) games in this Erste Bank Eishockey Liga season so far, while the Swiss Champion has earned three straight wins in the NLA. The two clubs have already faced each other twice in the year 2014: In those days, the club having home-advantage has left the ice as the winner in each game. „We don’t care about the opponent. We always want to play a fast and simple game, get the pucks to the net and win the game“, reported forward Peter Schneider.

HCB Südtirol Alperia will travel to Poland on Wednesday. There, the Champion will face GKS Tychy in the fifth Champions Hockey League round. Bozen has collected seven points out of four CHL-games so far and is ranked second in pot C. Skelleftea AIK is leading the group with ten points, IFK Helsinki (3rd) has seven points too. GKS Tychy could not convince in this Champions Hockey League season so far: Poland‘s Champion has lost all four games and has allowed 21 goals. Besides, Tychy, that is ranked second in Poland‘s Championship right now, has been defeated by Torun (0:2) for the first time this season at home on Sunday. The Italians have celebrated a 5:1-home-win over KHL Medvescak Zagreb on Sunday. „We did not play our best game against Medvescak, but we found a way to get three points and that‘s a good sign. We are looking forward to a really big game in Poland now. We have to play better there“, said Bozens Headcoach Kai Suikkanen.

EC Red Bull Salzburg will be in action in the Champions Hockey League in Bern on Wednesday. The Mozart Citizens need one point to fix the Play Offs already. SC Bern is leading in group G with eleven points ahead of EC Red Bull Salzburg (9 points) and Växjö Lakers (3 points) with two rounds to go. Each club has had a good run lately: The 15 times Swiss Champion (last title: 2017) has been successful in two straight games in the NLA against Ambri-Piotta (6:1) and Lausanne (2:0) and is ranked second. The Red Bulls have even won three consecutive Erste Bank Eishockey Liga matches, scoring 18 goals in total. The two clubs have already faced each other six times: The Austrians have won the first two meetings, SC Bern three out of the last four clashes, among others during this Pre Season. Besides, one clash ended 3:3. „We know, what we have to expect in Bern. We have already played against them at the Red Bulls Salute. We have to play our game full 60 minutes. Than, we can earn the point we still need to step up to the next round!“, knows Salzburgs forward Michael Schiechl.
