HCB Südtirol Alperia with key-games in Finland and Sweden
HCB Südtirol Alperia had a perfect start into the Champions Hockey League. The „Foxes“ celebrated two big wins against Skellefteå AIK (4:3/SO) and IFK Helsinki (4:1) and are leading in group C. The Italians will continue the Championship with the re-matches in Finnland (Thu) and Sweden (Sat). The key winning the home-games was a strong team-performance and goalie Leland Irving with a save% of 97.0. „To succeed again, everybody has to be concentrated and we aren‘t allowed to make unnecessary mistakes as well. Because we know, they play strong at home“, reported the net-minder.

Austrian teams want to make a step forward in the ranking
EC Red Bull Salzburg welcomes Cardiff Devils (GBR) on Thursday. The Mozart Citizens have won the first meeting with the Devils on the road 5:2. Goalie Lukas Herzog was a key-player, earning a save% of 95.0. Besides, the Austrians have already been defeated by Växjö Lakers during this Champion Hockey League season (2:5). „Cardiff has good skaters in their team and they play intense hockey. But we want to play our game and get the three points“, reported Salzburgs forward Thomas Raffl. Salzburg is third in group C. The Austrians have earned three points out of two games so far.

The Vienna Capitals will be in a fight for points with the Aalborg Pirates in Denmark on Thurday. The Austrians have been defeated in the first clash at home 2:3 after Overtime. The Caps had more shots (33:21), but the Pirates scored more often. Besides, the Austrians lost against Frölunda Indians during this Champions Hockey League season. This means, the Caps have collected one point out of two games so far. Nevertheless, Rafael Rotter and Co. miss just three points for place 1. „We still have a chance to make the next round and we believe in it. In this group, each team can beat the other club“, knows Caps forward Rafael Rotter.
